How to read the marking of tires

  • Width - is the width of the tire measured in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall.
  • Aspect Ratio - is the ratio of the height of the tire's cross-section to its width
  • Wheel Diameter is the width of the wheel from one end to the other.
  • Load Index - indicates the maximum load in pounds that the tire can support when properly inflated. (watch table 1)
  • Speed Rating - tells you the maximum service speed for a tire (Watch table 2)

Note: Mounting tyres with a speed index inferior to the one of the original tyres or than that recommended by the vehicle's manufacturer is prohibited. Example: A load index of 82 is equivalent to a maximum load of 950 (multiply load per tire per kg 2).
